First: Happy 43rd Birthday to Jay-Z (I know he's a big fan and long-time reader of this blog, so whuuudduuupp mengg)!
Second: a 24-minute documentary on Jay-Z's 8-show stint that opened Brooklyn's Barclays Center in September was released via YouTube today, and this was (by far) the sweetest/most-adorable/heart-warming moment in the entire video.
For this mini-tour, Jay-Z decided that he'd be riding the subway just like everyone else to get from show to show. Being one of the biggest celebrities on planet earth, this obviously has some challenges. Swarms of fans flooded the subway tunnels to follow Jay as he commuted, but a lot of people (like Ellen, a local NYC artist, in the video) were simply going about their lives, completely unaware of Jay-Z, his music, or what he means to the city they live in.
Check out this adorable clip of Ellen listening to Jay-Z explain who he is to her. (Oh, and thanks again to Jay for following my blog for so long, you're a peach.) [YouTube]
