Here's Some Grilling Tips for Your Weekend Tailgate:
TIP #1 - To Marinate or Not to Marinate? Be sure and marinate certain cuts for tenderness before you grill them (e.g., flank steak, skirt steak, round steak, chuck steak). There are lots of great marinade recipes, but a quick one is to pick your favorite Italian salad dressing and marinate in a zip lock bag 8 hours to overnight!
TIP #2 - Know Your Hot Spots. Every grill has them. Be sure and rotate your steaks and burgers accordingly while cooking.
TIP #3 - Tongs Good. Forks Bad. Do not use a fork to turn your steaks over on the grill. Piercing the steak can cause loss of flavorful juices. Use tongs instead.
TIP # 4 - Spatula 101. Use the spatula (alias "the burger flipper") only to flip your burgers. Do NOT press on the burgers while they are cooking as this can cuase dryness.
TIP #5 - Give it a Rest! After you remove your beef from the grill, let it rest for approximately 3 minutes under loosely tented foil. This allows the juices to remain in the beef, making for a juicier, more flavorful result.
