2. Go Clamming!
Roll up your pant legs and break out the shovel, it’s the first razor clam dig of 2012! You’ve been cooped up in the house all week, get out there, breathe in the salty ocean air and get a little dirty! The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife approved the evening dig at Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Copalis and Mocrocks beaches after marine toxin tests showed that the clams on those beaches are safe to eat. “The clams we’ve been seeing are in very good condition, with more fat than usual,” said Dan Ayres, WDFW coastal shellfish manager. “That makes them especially good for frying.” All diggers age 15 or older must have an applicable 2011-12 fishing license to harvest razor clams on any beach. Never done it before??? Don’t freak! Here’s the info you need!
